Snocool off-piste ski sessions are perfect for exploring Tignes’ hidden slopes, discovering fresh powder and improving your all-mountain technique.
Our guides know every couloir and hidden spot, and tailor each session to the conditions of the day.
Some iconic routes include:
- Le Vallon de la Sache: a long, varied descent, perfect for immersing yourself in powder
- La Vallée Perdue: a playful route with a magical atmosphere and narrow sections
- Le Glattier: a more technical area for advanced freeriders
Thanks to the diversity of terrain, Tignes offers something for everyone — from curious skiers to experienced freeriders.
Your off-piste session may include some hiking, with the option to use climbing skins depending on the route.
Three approaches are available depending on your level and ambition:
- Freeride: lift-accessed terrain, no hiking required
- Lift accessed backcountry: short hikes from the top of the lifts to reach untouched areas
- Ski touring: a full experience, earning your turns the whole way up from the top of the lifts or directly from a remote place

Thanks to its proximity to the Italian border, Tignes offers access to spectacular heli-skiing. Departing from La Rosière (1 hour driving), which is linked to La Thuile in Italy, helicopters can drop you on stunning Italian summits for unforgettable off-piste descents.
Heli-skiing is available for pre-formed groups of four participants. Unfortunately, we are unable to match individual guests or create groups, so please contact us only if your group is already complete.

Want to experience the mountains in their purest form? Our Snocool guides offer lift assisted backcountry, ski touring and splitboarding trips on request, combining physical challenge, freedom, and the joy of being immersed in wild, untouched nature.
Lift accessed backcountry blends lift efficiency with the physical challenge of a short skinning ascent (from the top of the lifts)—the perfect balance of instant gratification and exploratory adventure. It grants access to exclusive slopes otherwise unreachable, optimising downhill time while adding a physical dimension.
Ski touring is for those who want to completely escape the hustle of the pistes. Every ascent becomes a personal challenge, every descent a reward in wild, preserved surroundings.
In Tignes and Val d’Isère, the options are endless: ridges above the Sache Valley, Grande Motte Glacier couloirs, Fornet forest and so many more…
For snowboarders, splitboarding is the touring version of your board—a snowboard that splits into two skis for the ascent (with skins) and reassembles for the descent. It’s the ultimate blend of freeride freedom and ski-touring versatility.

How a Snocool Off-Piste Trip Works
Every trip begins with a full safety briefing and snowpack analysis. The guide selects a route suited to the group’s level and weather conditions.
During the trip, they teach movement techniques, terrain reading, and risk management. Regular breaks allow you to admire the landscape and discuss off-piste skiing techniques.
The session ends with a personalised debrief, reviewing highlights and areas for improvement. Every moment is designed to combine fun, performance, and maximum safety.

Every trip includes:
- Weather and snowpack analysis

Do I need off-piste experience?
No, our introductory packages are open to all good piste skiers.
Is safety equipment included?
Yes, avalanche device, shovel, probe, and backpack are provided. ABS available on request.
How many people per guide?
Maximum 6 participants per group to ensure safety and fun.
Are trips cancelled in case of avalanche risk?
No. There is always some avalanche risk in the mountains. Our guides prioritize your safety by carefully studying the avalanche bulletin (BRA) and choosing slopes that are as safe as possible. That’s why our guides are so skilled—they stay safe while responsibly selecting the best snow for you to ski.
