Freerando, Ski Touring & Splitboarding
Want to experience the mountain in its purest form? Our Snocool guides offer ski touring and splitboarding trips on request, combining physical challenge, freedom, and the joy of being immersed in wild, untouched nature.
Freerando combines lift access with short skinning ascents—the perfect balance of instant gratification and exploratory challenge. It opens up exclusive slopes otherwise unreachable, maximising downhill time while adding a physical dimension.
Ski touring is for those who want to escape the crowds entirely. Every ascent becomes a personal challenge, every descent a reward in wild, untouched surroundings.
In Val d’Isère, the off-piste options are endless. The mountain is vast and extensive—you would need a lifetime to explore every route.
For snowboarders, splitboarding is the touring version of your board—a splitboard that separates into two skis for the ascent (with skins) and reassembles for the descent. It’s the ultimate blend of freeride freedom and ski-touring versatility.
Options Available:
- Intro to freeriding: Ski Touring/Splitboarding – Lift-assisted + short ascents, Technique, transitions, effort management
- Full Day – Ascent, picnic, and off-piste descent
- Ski Raid – 2+ days with overnight stays in mountain refuges
Available on request only.

How a Snocool Freeride Trip Works
Each session starts with a full safety briefing, including snowpack analysis, weather updates, and equipment checks. Your guide adjusts the plan based on group level, snow conditions, and real-time factors.
During the descent, they’ll share technical tips, terrain-reading skills, and group cohesion strategies. Regular breaks let you hydrate, chat, and soak in the stunning surroundings.
The day wraps up with a personalised debrief, reviewing progress and planning your next adventure.

Is safety equipment included?
Yes! DVA, probe, and shovel are provided (ABS on request).
Can I join with a snowboard?
Absolutely! Our guides also lead freeride snowboarders. No problem to mix skiers and boarders in a group, as long as they are friends.
What if the weather turns bad?
Safety first—your guide will adapt based on conditions.
