Heliskiing Tignes
From dreams to reality, in Tignes everything is possible!

HELISKIING IN ITALY

Tignes county runs along the Italian border for several tens of kilometers. From Val Claret’s heliport, it’s possible to fly to Italy and reach within few minutes of flight two different regions where helicopters can drop skiers and snowboarders right at the top of the mountains.

La Thuile and Valgrisenche areas offers more than 80 routes for who’s looking for big mountain free-riding and untracked powder snow. Accessible to all skiers and snowboarders who have already some off-piste experience, it’s the guarantee of an unforgettable day.

SAFETY FIRST !

Our guides are all fully qualified, highly experienced professionals; they intimately know every heli-skiing trail.

We provide every person in our group with the latest model of avalanche transceivers, airbag rucksack, shovels and probes.

At the start of every day the instructor will brief the group on the use of the safety equipment.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR HELISKIING SESSION

MEETING POINT : To be organised with Misha at the time of booking.

YOU SHOULD KNOW :
-Heliskiing is forbidden in France, literally being dropped by a heli on a mountain, however, it is possible to ski to a remote place where a heli can pick people up.
-Heliskiing can only happen with a guide.
-A heli fits 4 participants + a Snocool guide + a pilot which means that you need to create a group of 4 and then contact Misha. For any gifts, it’s a great idea however very complicated to gather other participants…
-Heliskiing is nothing challenging, no need to have an expert level, the runs are gentle and wide open, nothing too steep, however it’s important to have experience off-piste with a guide in the past.

PICK-UPS :
-CHEVRIL : The Chevril Lake is the dam’s lake between Tignes and Val d’Isere. From the top of Tommeuses chairlift, after a short hike, there’s a number of couloirs adapted to any level from intro to experts, the guide will select the best one in terms of snow conditions & level of the group. At the end of these couloirs, there is another short hike leading to the forest skiing. The run ends close to the lake. From there, a wonderful flight above Val d’Isere, brings participants at the top of Solaise.
-CHEVRIL + : It’s a full day off-piste guided in Tignes and Val d’Isere combining the heli pick up at some point. A lot of vertical descent !
-BONNEVAL : Ski touring is required for this adventure. From the top of the Pissailas in Val d’Isere, there is a 30 minutes hike before skiing to Bonneval in the Maurienne Valley. It’s a long flight back above the Vanoise national park ending at the top of Solaise.

HOW TO REACH THE HELIPAD FOR ANY ITALIAN HELISKIING : With your guide, you will ski to the Italian border using La Rosière ski lift system. Departure time is 8am, it takes about 50 minutes to drive to La Rosière. Transportation to La Rosière is not included in the price. It is possible to organise a shuttle with your car and the car of the guide. Otherwise we can organise a taxi with extra cost. The first flight will lead you to an Italian descent and the last flight will happen on the French side in order to ski back to the car.

FLY N’HIKE : This combo involves a heli drop in Italy and a one hour hike to reach the top of Fogliettaz in Sainte Foy. It provides two great long runs ! Indeed it’s a strenuous day but full of turns in two remote places.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT : Equipment provided includes avalanche AirBags, next generation avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe.

TYPE OF SKIS RECOMMENDED : In order to make the most of your heliskiing session, we recommend that your skis have a waist width of at least 100mm! If you have hired your skis for the week, go to the hire shop before the heliskiing sesh to change your skis.

DON’T FORGET : Bring some water or energy drink and some snacks.
